What is Intense Pulsed Light?

The focus of IPL treatments improve texture, tone, colour and offer some tightening of the skin with improvement
of fine wrinkles. IPL skin treatments have great appeal to individuals with active lifestyles who cannot take time off
for healing which would be required with surgery or other invasive treatments such as glycolic or chemical peels.
This procedure requires no “downtime” and clients can resume most activities immediately after treatment except
for sun exposure.

The advantages of photo rejuvenation over other skin resurfacing methods are - the speedy recovery time, client
tolerance, short treatment sessions and safety. The procedure is administered in a series of 4-6 treatment
sessions, providing gradual improvement and excellent long-term results. Photo rejuvenation treats the entire
face imparting an overall refreshed and youthful appearance. Photo rejuvenation using IPL provides superior
cosmetic results and excellent client satisfaction.

Why choose IPL over other treatment options?

Laser resurfacing and deep chemical peels often send patients into hiding, as they wait for redness and swelling
to subside. Microdermabrasion addresses skin irregularities, but is not effective against all complexion problems
including redness, flushing and broken capillaries. Face lifts and other surgical procedures are far too invasive
for younger patients and "baby boomers" who simply want to revitalize their appearance without recovery
downtime.

What is Photodamage or Photoaging?

Accumulated sun exposure has a negative effect on our skin over time. The visible signs of aging are reflected in
irregular pigmented or brown spots, red facial veins, wrinkled or loose skin, textural changes and enlarged pores.

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition characterized by redness on the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. The
symptoms usually begin after 30 years of age and flare ups become more frequent with time. Rosacea is more
common in fair skinned individuals who have a tendency to flush or blush easily.

Signs and symptoms:

Flushing – many individuals with Rosacea have a history of frequent flushing or blushing. This facial redness may
come and go, and is often the earliest sign of the condition.

Persistent Redness – Persistent facial redness is the most common individual sign of Rosacea and may resemble
a blush or sunburn that does not go away.

Bumps and Pimples – Small red solid bumps or pimples often develop. While these may resemble acne,
blackheads are absent and burning or stinging may occur.

Visible Blood Vessels – In many individuals with Rosacea, small blood vessels become visible on the skin.

Is IPL safe?

IPL is safe, non-invasive, has minimal side effects and requires no recovery time. IPL is gentler than laser and
much faster as a larger area can be treated with each flash. We believe it is the most advanced hair removal and
skin treatment system available. We value the comfort and safety of the client very highly and will take the
greatest care to ensure that you feel at ease about every aspect of the treatment.

What are the side effects of IPL treatments?

You need a consultation before we can treat you.You should follow our advice before and after your IPL
treatment.  You may need six treatments or more before you can say goodbye to shaving and waxing and
individual results can vary.
Improving your skin using IPL may need between four and six treatments and individual results can vary.
Immediately after IPL treatment you may notice a slight reddening of the skin around the hair follicles or slight
local swelling which may last for up to a few hours (or in very rare cases, a few days). These are positive
indications that the IPL treatment was effective and no cause for concern.
Following your IPL treatment, areas of pigmentation will darken and rise to the surface of the skin before being
exfoliated naturally within 1-2 weeks. This is a positive indication of a successful IPL treatment and no cause for
concern

Who is a candidate for this new procedure?

Whether you're a man or a woman, if you are showing the signs of aging and sun damaged skin, you should
consider IPL Photo rejuvenation to help you look as young and healthy as you feel.  A brief no charge
consultation with our IPL specialist is the way to find out.

How is IPL Photo rejuvenation performed?

Before treatment:
A cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated, and you will be given dark glasses to
shield your eyes from the bright light.

During treatment  The smooth glass surface of the IPL hand piece is gently applied to your skin, delivering
pulses of light to the area being treated. IPL treatments are usually considered pain-free, but an anesthetic
cream can be used if you find the light pulses at all uncomfortable. Treatment sessions usually last about 15 - 45
minutes depending on the area being treated.  A complete program usually includes four to six sessions.

After treatment.  You can return to your normal routines and activities immediately. Occasionally, there may be
signs of treatment such as redness or blotchiness that can last from a few hours to a few days. You will see
gradual improvement from each session, resulting in a dramatic improvement by the end of your treatment
program.  The treated skin is more sun sensitive for two to three weeks and is not usually done when people
have a tan.
